Tonight's the official start to the new fall TV season -- the first night that a primetime program on the big four networks or NBC has a new program on the schedule. The CW is airing the second season premiere of 90210 followed by the series premiere of Melrose Place. I watched the first several episodes of 90210, sadly, and expect that Melrose Place will take the same approach. Put a few old faces front and center for a scene or two, then push those octogenarians aside for the torrid trysts and tempestuous traumas of teeny tiny twentysomethings.
I am glad that Sydney survived being fatally run over by a car on her wedding day. But if you can escape death, why can't you escape a West Hollywood apartment complex?
Only 11 of 103 TV Deadpool contestants put Melrose Place on their lists and just one predicted the cancellation of 90210. It's extremely tough to determine how low ratings must go before a show's unfit for broadcast on The CW.
