Making fun of some coverage of political weblogs, Brian Carnell writes that Instapundit's 40,000 visitors a day amounts to "1.2 million readers a month," which he suspects is more people than "than read the Weekly Standard, National Review, The Nation and Mother Jones combined." In order for Instapundit to have 1.2 million readers, Glenn Reynolds would have to be so compelling he attracts 40,000 unique daily visitors and so repulsive that all 40,000 don't come back the next day. Looking at just one of the dead-tree publications supposedly dwarfed by Reynolds, The Nation reported a paid circulation of 94,000 two years ago, most of whom read 3-4 issues a month, and Alexa reports that the magazine's Web site gets considerably more traffic than Instapundit or Andrew Sullivan.
