Maarten Hekkelman, the developer of the Pepper programmer's text editor, talks with John Gruber of Daring Fireball about why he called it quits, offering insight on the challenges of cross-platform software development and selling commercial software. One of his biggest laments was his decision to release a Linux port: "I sold three copies and one of those three was a fraud. I did have thousands of downloads though."
