Self-promotion: My new book, How to Use the Internet, 8th Edition, will be released on Sept. 6. The book's a visual guide for Internet novices with more than 700 color screen captures that show how to use e-mail, the Web, instant messaging, AOL, and audio and video players on a Windows system. This edition includes a new section on how to create a weblog. I covered Weblogger.Com's Manila service in this section for two reasons: Manila is the simplest weblogging tool for novices and Weblogger.Com is a reliable Manila host with a long free trial period. If my publisher gives the OK, I'll publish the weblog section online (and announce it here).
