AmphetaDesk developer Morbus Iff talks smack about the new version 0.93 release of the software in an interview with Aaron Swartz. The software is an open-source news aggregator written in Perl that's openly based on Radio Userland's aggregator. (It even uses OPML files.)

If the only thing you are using in Radio Userland is the aggregator, you might want to consider AmphetaDesk. I used it for a while until I started publishing a weblog, writing format drivers, and doing other things with Radio Userland.
