After watching the film Election a second time, I think it maps nicely to this year's presidential race. Tracy Flick is an unlikeable government nerd pressured by an overbearing parent who wants to be president more than anyone else alive, Paul Metzler is a popular dim bulb with rich parents and poor speaking skills who gets all the lucky breaks and Tracy Metzler is an angry outsider who thinks the political system is corrupt and the choice between the other candidates is meaningless. The race is also maddeningly close, with a 1-vote margin, a reversal in declaration of a winner and allegations of fraud.
