Today's Washington Post includes an 103-page affadavit in PDF format detailing the charges against FBI agent Robert P. Hanssen. The document is in Adobe PDF format, and someone at the Post has edited it to remove the exact street address of Hanssen's home on Talisman Drive in Vienna, Virginia. Stop me if you've heard this before. If the file is opened with Adobe Acrobat, the software used to add annotations to PDF files, all of the Post's edits can be removed to reveal Hanssen's address. If anyone wants to know the exact address of Hanssen's "modest split-level, four-bedroom house on Talisman Drive," put a piece of white tape on the stop sign of the corner of Donaldson Place and Belt Road in Fort Reno Park.
