Let the skepticism commence

Last week, the extent of USA Today reporter Jack Kelley's penchant for making up the news was revealed, prompting Providence Journal Editor Philip Terzian to issue this bold declaration: Newspaper readers might begin doubting the accuracy of journalists:

From now on, readers have every right to be skeptical about the facts they encounter in newspapers, or on the air.
