CD settlement payday has arrived

Settlement checks are being mailed to pay off the class-action lawsuit against the music industry for price fixing on CDs.

I received my check for $13.86 today along with a note from Florida Attorney General Charlie Crist, who describes it as a "pleasure to bring this matter to a satisfactory conclusion and to return value to consumers." No kidding -- the attorneys general have to be grateful to the corrupt music industry for giving them a chance to hand out 3.5 million checks to the public.

If you missed this payday due to lack of knowledge or sloth, the Big Class Action Web site is a resource for people who have been mistreated in any manner by a corporation or industry.

One of the suits that turns up there is a cosmetics price fixing settlement for Americans who purchased department store cosmetics from 1994 to 2003. The payoff to be shared is $175 million in free cosmetics.
