Steven Johnson has a piece in Discover on the collective news judgment of 900,000 webloggers, as demonstrated in Technorati's Breaking News feature:Technorati places far more emphasis than traditional news outlets on opinion articles because bloggers seem just as likely to link to a firebrand op-ed essay as to a sober wire-service report. ... On any given day, hundreds of opinion articles are published by traditional news outlets online. Technorati lets you see something that was up to now practically invisible: which opinions are creating a buzz.
