The nice thing about using OSX is that the community really isn't about beating down those who can't get the results their looking for. I have a UNIX-based OS with lots of options *and* a community of developers really helping one another along the road. Slashdotters on the other hand typically respond with RTFM or the like. While I really dig Linux and use it heavily at work, it's not always the most pleasant group of people. Thankfully, the entire Linux community isn't like those that have become associated with the Slashdot crowd--this website among is a good example of people working for the betterment of the community.
I've seen cooperative development take many forms over 25 years, from group huggy to egomaniacal flamers, often in the same context.
Attributing one or the other to specific operating systems is- your choice of
derogatory adjectives. The fuck can I say? I've mellowed with age.
It takes all kinds.
