Any American who purchased a CD at retail from 1995 to 2000 is eligible to receive $5 to $20 in the settlement of a class-action suit. Five music distributors and three retailers agreed to pay $67.4 million to settle a suit accusing them of conspiring to raise CD prices.
Claims, which can be filed online, must be made by March 3, 2003. Funds will be divided among all approved claimants, with a maximum of $20 going to each. Reportedly, less than 30,000 people have applied.
