Writing for O'Reilly Network, Marc Hedlund slams JSP, saying that it is "only an effective solution when the JSP author is also the HTML author."

Some of his concerns would be addressed by the use of the Java Standard Tag Library, but it probably remains true that JSP, like a lot of similar dynamic page content solutions, could be a lot easier for Web designers who do not code.
