FTP2000 is FTP software for Windows 95
that was published by Quintessential Objects Inc. of 425
E. 78th, Suite 2A, New York, N.Y. 10021. I recommended
the software in Teach Yourself to Create a Home Page
in 24 Hours because it's easy-to-use and has proven
to be reasonably reliable. (I use it every day to
maintain several different World Wide Web sites).
Shortly after this book was first published in 1997,
Quintessential Objects disconnected its phone number and
took its World Wide Web site at http://www.qoi.com
offline. The domain qoi.com now is owned by another
company unrelated to Quintessential Objects.
According to the documentation included with FTP2000,
Quintessential Objects permits the redistribution of the
software as long as it is offered as the file
ftp2inst.exe and is not altered in any way.
Here's the file you can download if you'd like to try

The program's documentation states: "FTP2000 is fully
functional for a thirty day period, after which you may
continue to use FTP2000 with restrictions stated below.
You may register FTP2000 at any time for $39.95 to remove
all restrictions." Even after the 30-day period, the
trial version of FTP2000 is sufficient to publish your
Web pages and related files on a server.
Jim Friskel, the author of FTP2000 and founder of
Quintessential Objects Inc., told me in July 1998 letter
that the company is defunct. No support is being offered
for the software, which Friskel plans to turn into
freeware at some point. You shouldn't attempt to register
the trial version that can be downloaded from this
page.

available as shareware, search a software archive such as Shareware.Com.
