Welcome, Readers of the Future

I'm working on the next edition of Sams' Teach Yourself Java in 24 Hours. Java 9 has a new HTTP client package, jdk.incubator.http, that makes it a lot easier to GET and POST to web servers and other software that communicates over HTTP.

For a demo, I needed a simple server that could take POST requests and do something with them without requiring a user login. I was about to write one when I realized I already had. This blog takes comments submitted over POST.

When the book comes out, I'll be able to see from these comments that readers have reached Hour 22.

Your book is good but this hour needs to be updated.

I had to make some http code adaptations in Teach Yourself Java in 24 Hours, version 8, because I'm using Java 11. The book is great!

Thank you for the wonderful java book! This chapter has been very challenging, and I have to think that the lack of posts here is directly related to the changes to the HttpClient class from jdk.incubator to java.net that came with releases after java 9. It took a lot of digging to figure out all the changes and fix all the resulting errors...

It's a palaver/n learning Java/n but don't get stuck /n get Rogers's book!

thank you for the music.

I'm getting a lot out of the 8th edition of your book. I'm using Java 12 and running into discrepancies between that and Java 9. Are there any plans for an edition compatible with Java 12?

Keith: We may come out with a new edition in 2020.

Hi there! I really like this book of yours! Although I am experienced in Java, I still learned quite a few from the early chapters (and no, not just the random questions in the workshop). Thanks Rog!

So far so good! Reading the book was, and still is quite a challenge for me. It has been so challenging for me that I actualy got to the point of almost giving up alot of times. However, now when I look back, I realise that I have learned so much, that it acctualy makes me feel sadthat te book is comming to an end. So all in all I can only say good things about the book.
About the "Come On and Getit" song though... well, let's just say that my thoughts are not that positive.
