Art Bell Remarries, Will Leave U.S.
Paranormal radio host Art Bell told listeners on Coast to Coast AM last night that he has remarried, given his pet cats away and will be leaving the country, according to the show's web site:
During the first hour, Art shared the story of how he met, fell in love with, and married a very special Filipino woman, Airyn Ruiz. Art also announced that he will be moving to the Philippines on April 29th to be with Airyn, but will continue doing weekend Coast programs from that location.
Art Bell's wife Ramona died in January at age 47 of circulatory failure resulting from an asthma attack.
Last night, Bell announced his new marriage on the air and shared photos of the wedding to Ruiz, 21, who met him over e-mail after Ramona's death.
Bell broadcasts his late-night talk show and an FM oldies station from his home in Pahrump, Nev., a desert town 50 miles from Las Vegas near Area 51. He left regular hosting duties behind on Coast to Coast in 2002 and now appears on weekends.
Some fans on an Art Bell online forum took the news personally:
What is even more shocking to me, is that he's leaving EVERYTHING behind ... the desert area, his home, his cats, the list is endless. ... I never would have thought a time would come when Art would go a day without his cats, no matter what. On his first show after Ramona died, he said that at one point, his cats were what kept him from suicide.

I don't feel comfortable criticizing someone who is probably a long way from recovering from the most traumatic event anyone can suffer, the loss of a spouse, but news that long-time radio host Art Bell has remarried just three months after the death of his wife is a little ... creepy.
Art is 60. His new bride is 20-something. Art is moving from his home outside Pahrump, Nevada to the Philippines on April 29, where he and his Filipino wife will make their home. He will continue his twice-monthly broadcasts for Coast to Coast AM.
I wouldn't even mention this except that Art devoted the first hour of his show last Saturday night to telling the story of how he and his new bride met, fell in love, and married. Sorry, but this is very, very odd.

My last week in the U.S. for a while! I
wanted a word with those on this forum
who have been so good to me all these years. In all those years I have been a Broadcaster I have told my listeners the truth, because when you do a four or five hour Talk Show if you do that, you never have to remember your lies.
As most of you know I lost my dear Wife of almost 16 Years on Jan 5. Shortly after
that almost like a Miracle I began hearing from a dear young lady in the Philippines named Airyn, only much later did I find out that my friend Carl Richardson had asked her to write to me because I was in such grief. I only now mention his name because I see he has posted on this forum.
We fell in love after hundreds of hours of video exchanges. I was of course very lonely and very much in need of love and human contact. Even then I could not be sure until I met this wonderful young Woman and so I went to the Philippines and what I had hoped was true, indeed was. It was a easy choice for me. I am now 60 years old,
I could spend my remaining years alone
in a house with haunting memories or choose life and a Woman who loves me. Despite what the critics would have you think, that is not a hard choice. Ramona
would NEVER have wished me to live out the remaining years of my life alone.
I believe those critics of my choice would only be happy if I was unhappy
and alone. That is not the path I have chosen. I am told that many Men who come from happy marriages re-marry
quickly. I understand the reason, it is
not as many suspect, it is companionship, love and all the things that were just lost. Yes, Airyn is young but she is from a culture where such
Marriages are common, in addition I did not choose her age, she chose me with no undrstanding of who I was until about two weeks before I went to meet her.
So, even with the understanding that many would judge me harshly for telling the truth, I decided that the truth has been my friend all these years and there was no reason to change.
Life is short. I am a risk taker and have taken many in my life. Marriage is always a risk and perhaps one might observe this has a greater risk, you might be right, only time will tell. I am
betting the remaining years of my life will be very happy. If the only way I can
honor the memory of Ramona is to remain alone and unhappy then something is very wrong with the world, and those who say it must be so.
To those who understand, I thank you. To those who do not, I hope you never face such a choice. My only advice to you all is remember....life is short.

Must those two extremes be your only two choices? My father lost his beloved wife in 2001. They were married 43 years. He hasn't remarried. He hasn't dated. Sure, he suffered the loss. He's experienced crushing grief and lonliness. And, like you, he considered not going on. But he chose life. Life alone, but fulfilled nonetheless.
He's done all the things he wanted to do in his youth, but got married too young to do so. He's quite happy. He has my blessing should he meet someone and wish to remarry. But he never saw life as so limited that he must immediately remarry or die.
If months after she had died he'd announced, as you did, that he was selling everything, giving away his cats, and moving half-way around the globe to marry someone 40+ years younger than himself, I would have been extremely worried about him. I don't think I would have given my blessing, rather asked him to give his soul time to heal before plunging ahead.
I don't know you, Art. I've listened to you for years, and counted the time as well spent. But recklessness is not a hallmark of wisdom - it is the impulse of youth. I would have said "Go softly, and give yourself time to heal. If Airyn is truly your next soulmate, she'll still be there in 6 months or even a year. Take time off, explore the world. But don't make rash decisions in your time of grief."

Exactly, also, notice how he doesn't mention his beloved wifes happiness. That is irrelevent as long as he fullfills his dirt old man needs. No, Art, I don't want to you to be alone if your wife died of natural causes, but yes, I do care about the welfare of a young woman who has to give up her life to cater to the needs of a dirty old man. If we want you to alone and unhappy, then I guess that is what you want for your bride because a young girl stuck with a sleazy old many is a prison sentence no one deserves.
Eureka, I've got it. In the spirit of Coast to Coast, I've figured out what is going on. It's Love at First Bite the sequel. Art is really a vampire and to stay immortal and diminish those liver spots he must suck the life out of a juicy young thing.
Nothing matters for the narcissist other than his own gratification. Art, with his pseudo-mourning and his all-about-me eulogy seems to fit the bill.
(BTW: a eulogy is about the person who just passed. Art turns Ramona's death into his own self-pitying orgy. He doesn't talk about her.)
With Airyn, he says she is a nice girl, then spends the majority of the hour talking or bragging about himself. We learned nothing about Airyn, other than the fact that she is young and beautiful. For an entire hour??
Only his feelings or perceptions about another person count.

Listen Art, I'm going to tell you something seriously. You did something that was not right. The timing of a new romance so soon after Ramona died shook me to my core. I really mourned her and I did not even know you both...it was the love's ending that I mourned...and if you wanted a new companion, you should have been discreet about it. What if you died and Ramona went out on the airwaves to millions of people bragging about a handsome 20 yr Amazonian farmer she MARRIED just a few weeks aftger you died...It was wrong what you did...You could have dated discreetly for a while ...long while.

Whats Art Bell up to
What's Art Bell up too now?
Last week-end on Coast to Coast AM, artie said that he was going to be doing something radical. On the HamFanz List, groups.yahoo.com there was some conjecture; everything from an Art Bell program on Satellite Radio to artie selling his Pahrump spread.
Then last night, Saturday, on Coast to Coast AM, artie announced, and I quote, "And don't think I've been abducted, I'll be missing for a couple of week-ends after this, a change of scenery is coming up." This in itself is kind of surprising, as after Ramona's (his wife of 15 yrs.) passing, he couldn't get back to broadcasting fast enough.
Tonight, Sunday, on Coast to Coast AM, artie announced, "I'll be gone for a couple of weeks or so. Doing some world tilting myself."
Can't help but wonder if this has anything to do with Carl Richardson of Smithville, Arkansas, kb5fjx. A few months ago, Carl kb5fjx, met a Philippine woman, Sharon, on the internet through one of the match' services.
Without ever having actually met each other, he asked her to marry him, and she accepted. (Carl has posted her picture to www.HamCams.com occasionally over this time period.) For Carl kb5fjx, and his bride to be, this has been an international law and visa nightmare that included much paperwork and long periods of waiting.
Up until last month, Carl was going to wait out the 8 months or so, for Sharon to get her visa and come here. Suddenly, last month, he decided to go ahead and go to the Philippines and marry here there. They even made reservations for a beach cottage for a honeymoon. Unfortunately, Sharon will have to remain there when Carl returns to Arkansas due to visa requirements.
NOW, here's how these two items intersect!
Carl kb5fjx, is now on his way to Los Angeles International Airport, then the Philippines via Pahrump!!! Art Bell's w6obb, favorite place in the whole world (as he's told many of us over and over), the Philippines!!! Art Bell's w6obb, favorite women, seem to be Asian.
Is all this just weird coincidence? I think not! I think artie and Carl are off on a 15 hour plane trip to the Philippines together.
Carl kb5fjx, is going to meet and marry Sharon. artie w6obb, is he going to look up old friends, start shopping for a new digs, or a new wife???

Or perhaps he could have refrained from calling her the love of his life like Ramona never existed. He could have at least refrained from telling us to go look at her picture. What Art wanted us to do was think, Oh Art what a stud you are to get such a beautiful young woman. Oh you must be hot Art. It wasn't exactly "months" to pull it off. It is very evident that this relationship started to flourish in a matter of a week or two after Ramona's death.
It is my guess that it probably started flourishing long before that ... just waiting for the right circumstances for everything to fall into place.

Yes, that is actually what I would guess too, but just on the itsy bitsy astronomical chance he fell in love with the youngun' 15 minutes after Ramona's death, I gave him the benefit of the doubt. The Vegas odds would be on him meeting her before his beloved's departure from this cold cruel earth. Well, as for the Phillipino women..I made many friends of them when I lived in Japan...(many many were married to GI's!) They were very friendly, generous and kind..except for one instance! I will say that in a moment! As for Art Bell marrying a few months after the death of his wife..that is not unusual...You can meet someone in 2 weeks fall in love and marry! There could be more extenuating circumstances,..that are legit here!
The one instance for the Phillipino women ...they DO NOT like pets, especially cats! She probably told him to get rid of them! As for them eating them..I don't know about that? It was always the Vietnamese, Cambodians, Laotians, and Chinese that did?
Art Bell is 60 years old. At that age one doesn't have a spare 4 or 5 years to waste mourning the death of one's late wife. He may not live another 4 or 5 years and who knows what might happen?
And what's all this about he "married too soon"? What? Is there some sort of "Federal Spousal Mourning Period Law" in effect here? There is no such law!
When his wife died he lost the love of his life. And now he's trying to get that love back. Hopefully he's found it in his new wife. Hopefully he's happy now and not depressed.
There have been studies that show that men take the death of a beloved wife really hard and can spend years in depression mourning their wives. After a beloved wife dies it's really hard to get up and face each morning without her there to share it.
A new love interest can get a man moving in the right direction and I'm sure he now embraces each morning and the start of each new day. Now he lives for himself and for the one he loves.
He's 60 years old. Maybe some of you are in your 20's or 30's and have a spare 5 or 10 years left in your lives to grieve over someone or something. He doesn't. Give him a break. Yeah, yeah, it's a lot more fun to beat up on him, yeah, right...

It's so sad to know that people don't have values anymore, especially VISITOR and to all those people writing crazy stuffs to other people!!! It's seems that you are illiterate! Be careful of the words you are writing about them because you are NOT perfect!! Let's not generalized things, because in fairness to Filipinos and other Asians, they are blessed with good hearts unlike you. I wonder how your parents have raised you ... or if you belong to a good family! But with your attitude I don't think so! With what you are writing it seems that you are describing yourself! I can't believe these people saying bad things about art bell's wife,you are not paying their bills so mind ur own business!!!!! The first time I heard art bell is thru my husband, he listens to him every night, between art bell & George Noory & next thing i've heard Art Bell is in the Philippines& from then on im alwaysa eager to listen to him while he is airing from the philippines, i remember one time that he was on the air & the caller was asking like how Philippines look like... then art bell said "anything you have there, we have here too". I feel pitty for the people who critized other people, why dont you look at your face in the mirror & only to find out who have the dirtiest face?????? Go ask Art Bell how his wife treating him?

Aboyadjian, I don't have a dirty face because I can wash it myself, unlike Art, who can't take care of himself. By his own admission, Ramona did everything for him, even paying the bills. He couldn't handle being on his own (and that wasn't just the loneliness), nor did he bother to try. He disrespected Ramona's memory with his "Airyn is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen" and "Airyn is my soulmate". He disrespects Airyn by calling her Air-in because he likes that name more than the correct Irene. As for mind "ur" own business, I would like to. But Art likes to drone on and on about his own personal life like a narcissist, so he has ensured that people will comment on his personal life. He thrives on the attention. His remembrance of Ramona was all about him - not about what made her unique. Art is all about Art, and that hasn't changed with the new wife.

I just started listening to Coast to Coast and heard Art Bell on the show for the first time. Am confused because this site states he left U.S. and the show? I enjoyed the show and listened to the past broadcasts. As for Art Bell, he is an excellent host and if he is happy with his new wife, then he is surely blessed. She's adorable. I heard him mention his cats, which someone quoted (here?) that they were no longer with him?
I'm concerned as to what happened to Art's son.
After happily announcing that his new child will be a girl, he
keeps playing Blood Sweat & Tears refrain...."There'll be one child
born in this world to carry on".
